LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Richard William "Billy" Downs, 75, of Lincolnton, entered into rest December 13, 2007, at University Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2007, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Prater officiating. Interment followed in Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Bobby Downs, Robert Downs, Christopher Downs, Vernon Downs, Keith Downs, Richard Downs and Roy Dye.
Mr. Downs was a native of Glascock County and lived in Martinez for many years before retiring to Lincolnton. He was the son of the late Ira Downs, Sr., and the late Nancy Todd Downs. He was retired from B.P. Oil Company as a store manager and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include: beloved wife for 55 years, Jeanette Dye Downs, Lincolnton; brothers: Ira Downs,Jr., Juliet, Tenn., Samuel T. Downs, Harlem, David Downs, Atlanta, Tommy Downs, Winder, Ga., Timmy Downs, Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Ann McCoy- Warrenton; a number of nieces and nephews.
Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
