Mr. Benny McGahee
Retired EMS Director

THOMSON, Ga. - After a long battle with cancer, Mr. Benny McGahee of Thomson, entered into rest December 11, 2007, at Trinity Hospice with his wife at his side.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2007, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sue Meehan officiating. Interment followed in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Warren DeBeaugrine, Bobby W. Johnson, Jimmy Maddox, Gene Walker, Dexter Lovins, Allan Johnson and Marvin Shelton.

Mr. McGahee was born in Wilkes County, but lived in Warren and McDuffie County most of his life. He served as a staff manager from 1960-1970 at Security Life Insurance Company, worked in his step-dad's grocery store in Norwood from 1970-1975, served as Warren County Emergency Medical Services Director from 1975-1985, served as Washington County Emergency Medical Services Director from 1993-1998, and returned to Warren County and worked until retirement in September 2002, serving once again as Director. Mr. McGahee served as Coroner of Warren County from 1977 to 1993. He was also a member of Young Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Donna McGahee, Thomson; daughters: Carla McGahee, Augusta, Jenny McGahee, New York, New York; mother: Frances McGahee Griffith, Norwood; sister: Margaret Barrett, Covington; sister-in-law: Yvonne Morris, Augusta.

Memorials may be made to Young Memorial United Methodist Church, 1711 Washington Rd. Thomson, GA 30824.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
