Gift certificates are always a welcome present, but the McDuffie County Chamber of Commerce has taken the idea and given it a twist.
Chamber Cash, a new program, will allow people to give and receive gift certificates for use in local businesses, explained Carolyn Gilbert, Chamber executive director.
"Chamber cash helps keep our money here in McDuffie County and promotes businesses and industries," she said.
To give Chamber Cash as gifts, people purchase certificates in any denomination at the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce office. The recipient can then use the certificates just like cash at any of the 35 participating businesses.
"Chamber Cash offers something for everyone," Ms. Gilbert said, noting a wide range of goods and services can be purchased by the certificates.
