A McDuffie County teen traveled to Atlanta Dec. 12 and placed second in her age bracket for the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition.
Fourteen-year-old Whitney Hillman placed second in the 14- and 15-year-old division.
Monte Ashcraft with the Thomson-McDuffie Recreation Department said the top five youth from nine sectionals in Georgia and Alabama competed.
Four other youth from the Augusta and Thomson area were involved in the competition at the Georgia Dome Sunday afternoon.
Stephanie Bloedel of Augusta placed first in the girls' 8-and-9-year-old division.
Ivey Mischel from Columbia County placed third in 12-and-13-year-old boys division and Kevin Millward of Columbia County placed fourth in the 14- and 15-year-old division.
The NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick program is a forum for boys and girls ages 8-15 to compete separately against their peers in punting, passing, and placekicking skills, according to the competition's website.
The youth compete in all three events and are scored for distance and accuracy.
The competition was held before the Atlanta Falcons home game Sunday and a demonstration was held on the field during halftime activities. Plaques were awarded to the winners.
