WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - Funeral services for Mrs. Mallene (McGahee) Vander Voort were held on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Aiken's First Baptist Church with Fred W. Andrea, III, Ph. D., officiating. Interment followed at Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Vander Voort, 95, of West Columbia, died Monday at Lexington Medical Center. A daughter of the late Artemus and Mattie (Reeves) McGahee, she was born in Dearing, Ga., and had lived in Graniteville for a while then to Aiken for 60 years prior to moving to West Columbia two years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia and a former member of Aiken's First Baptist Church where she had been very active in the Sunday school program. She had also volunteered as a 'Pink Lady' at Aiken Regional Medical Centers during the 1970's and early 1980's. Her husband, Gilbert Henry Vander Voort died in 1988.
She is survived by a son, Henry C. Vander Voort, Columbia; two daughters, Diane V. Asbill, Lexington, S.C. and Carolyn V. Barthel, Perkasie, Pa.; two step-sons, Dale G. Vander Voort, Ashville, N.C. and Robert Richardson, Tennessee. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
