Mr. Floyd R. Davis

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Floyd R. Davis, 78, loving husband of 29 years to the late Kathryn Harling Davis, entered into rest after losing a long battle with cancer after 5 months on Thursday, December 20, 2007, at Windermere Nursing Home.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2007, at Platt's Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with Pastor Matthew Judd officiating. Burial followed at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Davis was born in Warrenton. He was the son of the late John Vinson Davis and the late Mary Shelton Davis. He attended Warrenton High School. In his younger years, Mr. Davis was an avid tennis player and taught many in Warren County the sport. He also served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Davis was the owner and operator of Sub Terminal for 29 years. He was an avid sports fan and a member of Good News Church. Mr. Davis was loved by many and he will be greatly missed by all family and friends.

Survivors include two stepsons, George Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz., Gary Smith of Shelby, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Brenda Hanson of Augusta, Gale Cutchins of Virginia Beach, Va.; one sister, Vally McDonald of Warrenton; one sister-in-law, Inez Davis of Warrenton, Ga.; three nieces, Debbie Norris of Thomson, Sharon Greaves of Martinez, Fay Phillips of Watkinsville, Ga.; three nephews, John Davis of Atlanta, Ga., Wayne McDonald of Albuquerque, N.M., Ray McDonald of Picayune, Miss.; six grandchildren, Lisa Cashin, Noah Smith, Josh Smith, Colt Smith, Ross Smith, Chase Smith; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Newhall, Graham Cashin, and Mary Margaret Cashin.

Pallbearers were Bob Widener, Gary Platt, Ray McDonald, John Davis, Jim Cutchins, and John Spear.
