WARRENTON, Ga. -- Two men were killed near Warrenton Saturday night after the dune buggy they were spun out of controland slid into a barbwire fence before slamming into a tree on Gunn Road.
Warren County Coroner Paul Lowe identified the victims as Samuel Wayne Fulbright, 57, of Thomson and Larry Olin Thigpen, 60, of Camak. Mr. Fulbright was a Thomson businessman, and Mr. Thigpen and his wife ran a business in Camak, the coroner said.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:27 p.m. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Sunday at the Georgia State Crime Lab in Augusta to determine the exact cause of death.
The two men had been out riding in the dune buggy while spending time with family and friends nearby on the dirt road.
Passersby happened upon the wreck and notified authorities shortly before 8 p.m.
Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Jason Johnson of the Thomson post said Mr. Thigpen was the driver of the vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Gunn Road when he lost control on a curve.
Senior Trooper John Freeman said the wreck is under investigation.
