AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Mr. Lumpkin William McBurney, 88, entered into rest Monday, December 8, 2008, at University Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home with Dr. Gordon Robinson and Rev. Steve Patteson officiating. Interment followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Bill Crawford, Floyd Crawford, Hoke Rennison, Thomas Rennison, Tony Martin and Billy Youngquist. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Baggett and Sonny McBurney.
Mr. McBurney was born in Thomson. He was a retired brick mason and building contractor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Armour McBurney; father, Robert William McBurney and mother, Nellie Boyd Young McBurney; sisters, Evelyn McBurney Baggett, Lura McBurney Bunch, Florence McBurney Hambrick, Nellie Boyd McBurney and Louise McBurney Cummings; brothers, Dykins McBurney and Horace "Boy" McBurney.
He is survived by his daughter, Jenny (Randy) Youngquist; grandchild, Danielle (David L.) Bennett; and three great-grandchildren, Evan A. Bennett, Andrew C. Bennett and Jessica T. Bennett.
