Mrs. Ruth Skvarca Serkes

HEPHZIBAH, Ga. -- Mrs. Ruth Skvarca Serkes, 80, wife of Mr. William Serkes, entered into rest Wednesday, December 10, 2008.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday December 13, 2008, in the Harlem Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Roger A. Schwartz officiating.

Mrs. Serkes, a native of Germany, was a homemaker. She served the American Legion Jack C. Fortune Post No. 205 in several capacities in the past years including President of the Ladies Auxillary. She also volunteered for the Georgia War Veterans Home. Mrs. Serkes was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Augusta.

Additional survivors include two sons, Neal and his devoted wife Debra Skvarca, Dearing, and Norman Skvarca, Evans; two daughters, Jeannine (Ricky) Spradley, Warrenville, SC, and Monica (Bobby) Steed, Winder, Ga.; one brother and two sisters of Germany; and seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

If so desired, memorials may be made to Medical College of Georgia, Children's Cancer Center, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
