Mrs. Jamie Neal Newsome

HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Jamie Neal Newsome, 86, wife of the Rev. L. J. Newsome, went to be with the Lord, Friday, December 26, 2008, at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2008, in the Norris Chapel Holiness Church in Dearing, with the Revs. Tye Sorrow and Jimmy Richardson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Newsome was a native of McDuffie County and lived in Columbia County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Norris Chapel Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Reverend L. J. Newsome, Harlem; four sons, Preston Newsome, Mexico, Warren (Karen) Newsome, Thomson, Louis (Janice) Newsome, Harlem and Leonus Bradley (Laney) Newsome, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Sherry (Maurice) Williams and Audrey (Ronny) Lanham both of Harlem. Mrs. Newsome was the oldest of eleven children with four siblings surviving, three sisters, Mary Brooks and Margaret Burch of Augusta, Adele Williams, Warrenton; one brother, Hubert Neal, Thomson. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Hannes.

Pallbearers were grandchildren, Vance Prescott, Neal Newsome, Ray Williams, Dale Lanham, Micah Newsome and Josh Newsome.

Starling Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
