Employer committee makes Ferst donation
The East Central Georgia Employer Committee recently made a $500 contribution to the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy in McDuffie County. The Ferst Foundation sends a book a month to children registered in the program from birth to age 5. The program is funded totally by donations and run by a volunteer staff with help from McDuffie Partners for Success. Currently more than 600 children in McDuffie County receive books from the program that is open to all children, regardless of income.
Employer Committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain a working relationship between the employer community and the Georgia Department of Labor. The committees provide input and guidance in the development of policy and legislation by the Department of Labor as it impacts Georgia employers and employees. They promote GDOL services among the employment community and identify and recommend ways to meet local and state employment-related needs.
