HARLEM, Ga. - Mrs. Irene L. Rushing, 76, wife of the late Mr. Thomas B. Rushing, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at her residence.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta, with Dr. James Ramsey officiating.
Mrs. Rushing was born in New York City, N.Y., and was a longtime resident of Thomson. She was a member of First Baptist of Thomson. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Rushing, Thomson and Derrell Rushing, Warrenton; one daughter, Arleen Rushing Shapiro, Monroe; four grandchildren, Chris Rushing, Hollie Rushing, Austin Rushing Austin Rushing, and Clint Rushing and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Joy Barreca, Thomson; sister-in-law, Ann Moore Parnell, Hephzibah; and her special "sister," Dessie Pate Carter, Martinez.
