One inauguration celebration this week in Washington, D.C., had a McDuffie County connection to it.
Thomson native and star trombonist Chris Crenshaw performed with other members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra during the Jazz at Lincoln Center and The Rockefeller Foundation's "A Celebration of America" in the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater on the occasion of the Presidential Inauguration and Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
The Monday night event was a look back on the life of Dr. King and a look ahead to a new era under a new President.
Mr. Crenshaw played with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and a host of other artists including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Bela Fleck, Cassandra Wilson, Dave Brubeck, Freddy Cole, soprano (and Augusta native) Jessye Norman, and violinist Mark O'Connor.
