The Community Action Team of the local Ferst Foundation sponsored a raffle at the Festival Off Main in December. A drawing was held Monday afternoon during the CAT regular meeting, with three-year-old A.J. Whittle, a Ferst program book recipient, drawing the winning names.
Mona Hudson won the 19-in. LCD television donated by Badcock Furniture, Christie Donovan won a framed photograph of Uga VII, the University of Georgia mascot, and Brent Godbee won a cheesecake donated by Joe Minor.
The Ferst Foundation provides age appropriate books monthly to children under the age of five across the state of Georgia. The local foundation is able to send books to 600 children, thanks to community donations and sponsorships. According to Ferst CAT Chairwoman Pat Farner, it costs $37 per year to send books to one child.
The raffle raised $582 for the local organization.
