McDuffie Regional Medical Center recently honored Amanda Jenkins as its Golden Heart winner of the year for 2008.
Mrs. Jenkins, who works in social services at the hospital, has been a MRMC employee for 17 years. According to her letter of nomination for the award, Mrs. Jenkins "is constantly dedicated to improving the patient's quality of life at MRMC and is always looking about for their best interest. She approaches all situations with determination whether it be helping a patient gets into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program or helping elderly patients who can no longer care for themselves to get into a personal care home."
"I feel that her commitment to her profession and this hospital is extraordinary and beyond the scope of her description," said Wanda Swafford, RN. "She has a personal commitment to her patients and their families evidenced by the amount of time spent with the family and patients, helping them select the best option for the patient. She remains supportive to the family during those tough decisions."
