Mr. Charles H. Branch
Retired Civil Service

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Charles H. Branch, 85, beloved husband of Mrs. Dorothy Branch, died Monday, February 16, 2009, in the McDuffie Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009, at Thomson First Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Mr. Branch was a native of Morgan, Ga., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army and was retired from Civil Service at Fort Gordon. He was a member of the Thomson Lions Club, where he was a Past President. He was a member of Thomson First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Branch, Thomson; his daughter, Charlene (John) Smith, Martinez; his two sons, C. Hayden (Betsy) Branch, Jr., Roswell and Steven (Patrice Rhodes) Branch, Augusta; and his six grandchildren, Chris Smith, Brett Smith, Craig Smith, Davis Branch, Jessica Branch, and Justin Branch.

Pallbearers were Ralph Starling, Don Newsome, Russell Gary, Cliff Langham, Britt Hammond, and Doug Dent.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomson First Baptist Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
