GRAY, Ga. - Mrs. Mary Alma Thomas, 92, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at a local hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2009, in the sanctuary of Bradley Baptist Church with interment at Bradley Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Steve Johnson officiated.
Mrs. Thomas was born April 24, 1916, in Wilkes County and had lived in the Cedar Rock Community in Warren County before moving to Gray.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Mansfield Newsome and Emma Waters Newsome. She was a homemaker and spent her life caring for her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Union Baptist Church where she and her husband were married on October 28, 1934, before moving to Gray and joining Bradley Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl David Thomas and her son, Jerald David Thomas.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Dave Pitstick, of Thomson, and Pauline and Julio Tobar, of Oxford; daughter-in-law: Cheryl Thomas, of Gray; granddaughters: Mary Kate Johnson and Lora Hadden, of Thomson, Loray Childs, Lorraine Taylor and Leigh Clay, all of Gray; great-grandchildren: Ashley Hadden and Crystal Rabun, both of Thomson and Megan Childs of Gray; great-grandsons, Ken Hadden, of Thomson, Dalton Taylor, Chase Clay and Cole Clay, all of Gray, and by her great-great granddaughters, Haley Gunby and Macie Rabun, both of Thomson.
