Appearing on the cover of 750,000 copies of the 2009 Georgia Travel Guide is quite an honor.
This honor is for the whole community.
Yes, the picture is of Belle Meade Hunt, but this is just a snapshot representation of all the good people, places and things in Thomson and McDuffie County.
The real honorees are all the people of Thomson and McDuffie - especially the leadership of the city and county governments who have gone the extra mile to work together for the greater good of the people of Thomson and McDuffie County.
Two of our county's slogans are: "Harmony Happens Here" and "Country Living. City Style."
The years of hard work and dedication of our civic and business leaders has put us on the map for cooperation and progress and quality of life. For many of us, a big part of that quality of life is Belle Meade Hunt.
The success of Belle Meade Hunt is the direct result of community and landowner support through all of our organization's 43 years. We have dozens of wonderful generous landowners.
We would like to dedicate this honor to our four original landowning families: Holzendorf, Howell, Knox and McCorkle.
We would also like to recognize our founders - the two men who had the vision and "want to" to make it happen - Peter S. Knox, Jr., and James E. Wilson, Jr.
President, Belle Meade Hunt
