We, the proud and very pleased parents of the children who are enrolled in the MEEPS after-school program, would like to express our heartfelt thanks to McDuffie County Partners for Success for sending us on such a wonderful field trip on March 13, 2009.
I know that as a parent it was certainly a very good learning and educational trip for me. I would not have missed it for the world. When we entered the capitol in Atlanta, I immediately felt as though I was a part of history. To actually see the governor's office and watch his staff at work and to see the place where the state representatives work and vote on various bills was breathtaking.
The most exciting part was to talk to Rep. Sistie Hudson about some things that have been bothering me concerning healthcare. And to find out that Rep. Hudson and myself both come from Hancock County and that her father, Dr. Green, was my childhood doctor was just out of this world.
Oh, but the trip gets better because after the capitol, we were treated like dignitaries. We had lunch at the CNN building, where a lot of news people eat. I don't think I have ever felt that special, not even on my wedding day.
Now, the trip wasn't just for us grownups. The kids had a blast at the Georgia Aquarium. I think my daughter wanted to tell me about every fish she and her friends saw. And, much to my surprise, I did not know that she and her friends knew so much about sea life.
I just had to write this thank you note to let the Partners for Success representatives know that their work is not in vain and to encourage them to keep on doing what they are doing. I know it gets hard and tiresome. I can truly say and I think I am safe in speaking for all the parents and the school system that it is well worth the work.
My hat is off to the McDuffie County School System and McDuffie County Partners for Success, and I think you are very much underpaid for what you do with and for our children. I know that it is and can be a stressful job not only because of all the different personalities you have, but the other pressures as well including parents, sometimes not enough tools and equipment to use for teaching, and just plain old every day disruptions.
So again I say to Partners for Success and The McDuffie County School System, great job.
Many Thanks and Much Love,
