Bulldogs lose to Baldwin; soccer season ends this week

The Thomson High School Bulldogs dropped a 2-1 game in soccer to the visiting Baldwin County Braves at The Brickyard in Thomson last Saturday.

Thomson, now 4-9 on the season, was scheduled to have played West Laurens in their season-ending game at The Brickyard on Tuesday.

The Braves managed to score a pair of goals before Thomson could muster a goal. Scoring the lone goal for the Bulldogs was senior Pop Chambliss.

"I thought we had a chance to win the game in the second half, but it just didn't happen," remarked Thomson Head Coach Barry Arrington. "It was one of those real close soccer games, and we just came out on the short end."

He praised the play of Chambliss, Jay Bieltz, Mat Neal, Mark Ricketson, Cullen Wallace, Marquis Cook and freshmen Zack and Chris Conner.

"I thought they played a real good game for us," Coach Arrington said. "Mat played a very good game as goalkeeper. He saved a number of goals."
