THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Carlie Berma Morris Butler went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 23, 2009, at Doctor's Hospital.
Homecoming service was held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, Columbia Road Chapel, on Sunday, April 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tony Henderson officiating. Interment was in the Morris Cemetery at Whiteoak Methodist Church in Appling.
Carlie was born February 11, 1914, in rural McDuffie County to the late Pearl Clinton and Ethel Turner Morris. Reared on the family farm in McDuffie and Columbia counties, she loved to look out upon "a sea of white cotton" as she called it. A farmer at heart, she enjoyed planting fruit trees, wildflowers, raising tomatoes and regaling family members with stories about Grandpa Obediah and Grandma Berma Morris whom she would visit in horse and buggy every Sunday. Carlie was a compassionate, loving person; she put others before herself and walked the Word by her example. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her only child, Beverly Ann of Martinez; two sisters, Mrs. Zerie Bartles of Appling; and Mrs. Virginia Cartledge, of Marietta, Georgia; two brothers, Mr. Lou Morris and Mr. Pate Morris, both of Thomson; a host of nieces and nephews along with her shorkie, Jodie and grandpoodles, Dmitri, Harley, and Poohbear.
