ATHENS, Ga. - Ms. Marie E. Bruce, 47, entered into rest in Athens, on April 25, 2009.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Warren Baptist Church in Augusta, at 11 a.m. with Dr. David H. McKinley officiating. Interment followed in Westover Memorial Park.
Survivors include one son, Lawrence James Gourley Zinkhan; one daughter, Marie Elizabeth Stoner Zinkhan; her mother, Betty P. Bruce; one brother, Lawrence Bruce and his wife, Donna; one aunt, Daisy A. Phelps.
Her father was the late Lawrence E. Bruce.
Marie graduated from Westside High School. She attended law school at the University of Georgia, graduating in 1998. Soon after college, Marie started her own law practice in Athens. Marie and her children attended Athens First Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were David Anderson, Jeffrey Evans, Stuart Ivy, Allen Rowell, Toby Vinson and Jim Wenthe.
Platts Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
