Mr. Robert Eugene "Gene" Luke
Retired equipment operator

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Robert Eugene "Gene" Luke, beloved husband of Mrs. Pat Luke, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at his residence.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the Westview Cemetery with Rev. Steve Stokes and Rev. Butch Baston officiating.

Mr. Luke was a native of McDuffie County. He was a retired equipment operator for Thiele-Kaolin Company. He was a Navy Veteran. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and was a Deacon and a past chairman of the Deacons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Carrie Luke, two brothers, Wyman McDonald and Woodrow McDonald, his sister, Ollie Mae Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Patricia P. Luke, Thomson; two daughters, Elane Luke Lewis and her husband, Walker I. Lewis Jr., Avera, Ga., and Ellen Luke Stapleton and her husband, George T. Stapleton, Stapleton, Ga.; his son, Ricky Luke and his wife, Debby Cheely Luke, Thomson; five grandchildren, Pete Stapleton, Greg Hartzog, Natalie Stapleton, Tyler Luke, and Luke Stapleton; and a great grandchild, Cheyanne Luke.

Honorary Pallbearers were Deacons of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
