THS captures first region baseball title in 40 years

It's been 40 years since there was such excitement in the air about baseball in McDuffie County.

There are at least a couple of reasons why.

One: Thomson just won their first region championship since 1969. Two: The Bulldogs are now preparing to host the first-round of the Class AAA state baseball playoffs at the Thomson High complex this weekend. It's something they've never done before.

"It's a first, but we certainly hope it's not the last one or that Thomson has to wait so many years to get here again," said Thomson Head Coach Terry Holder.

The legendary prep baseball coach is hoping a little championship magic wiall catch hold of his players at Thomson and they can earn their first such state title in baseball.

"It would be great for our kids and our community to win a state championship, but that's still a long way down the road," said Coach Holder.
