MATTHEWS, Ga. - Mr. Pilcher L. James, 83, son of the late Silas James and Beatrice Arrington James, entered into rest Monday, May 11, 2009, at his residence.
Graveside services were held at Wrens Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday May 13, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jason Burton officiating.
Mr. James was preceded in death by his sister, Velma Thompson.
Mr. James was retired as a carpenter and was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army, where he fought in War World II.
Survivors include his children, Phyllis D. (Joe) Worley, Hephzibah, Wanda (Jimmy) Baker, Matthews, Ga., Danny B. James and Jerry P. James, both from Blythe; a brother, D.J. James, Thomson; two sisters, Raydell Kirchner, Keysville, Ga. and Bobbie Dixon, Wrens; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cal Newman, Donald Connor, Tracy Dixon, Douglas Dixon, Dennis Wheeler, and Tony Cooper.
James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
