NORWOOD - A 44-year-old Smyrna man was killed after losing control of his tractor-trailer rig following a wreck with another truck on Interstate 20 in Warren County early Wednesday.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Sandy Yelton identified the victim as James Bush. She said Mr. Bush, a driver for the Pepsi cola company, died from blunt force head trauma. He was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m.
Trooper First Class Mike Callaway of the Georgia State Patrol post in Thomson said the victim was not wearing a seat belt.
Mr. Bush was traveling westbound near mile marker 158 about 3 a.m. when his trailer struck another 18-wheeler rig, which was broken down in the emergency lane, Trooper Callaway said. Following the crash, Mr. Bush then lost control of his truck before it went down a steep embankment and crashed into several trees.
The driver of the other truck was identified as Kenneth Woodfork, 38, of Doraville, who was only slightly injured, Trooper Callaway said.
The wreck shut down one lane of traffic in that area for several hours.
