Kischondrius Tanksley was as thrilled as could be placing fourth in shot putt competition during the Class AAA state track meet held in Albany, Ga. last weekend.
The 18-year-old junior threw a distance of 37 ft., 6 in.
"I'm very proud of her and the desire she showed at the state level," Thomson High Girls' Head Track Coach Chris Harris said. "She represented us very well."
Tanksley, a rising senior, finished first in Region 3-AAA shot putt competition. Last year, as a sophomore, in her first year as a member of the varsity track team, she finished second in region competition.
"I was glad that I placed in the state track meet," Tanksley said, noting that she already is setting her sights of a higher finish next year. "I'd like to get first place next year."
