A former star baseball player and four current outstanding players with the Thomson High School Bulldogs were recently honored by the sports staff of The Augusta Chronicle.
Will Anderson, who recently graduated, was named to the All-Area Second Team. Anderson, who also was a star football player, will be attending Georgia Southern University in the fall. He hopes to be a walk-on football player there.
Anderson, who anchored first base when he wasn't used as a starting pitcher, finished his senior season with an impressive .380 batting average. Because of his outstanding baseball season, Anderson was named the 2009 Region 3-AAA Player of The Year.
Four other Thomson players also received Honorable Mention honors from the daily newspaper sports staff. They included: Abe Cartledge, Phillip Anderson, Cody Ewest and Will Tankersley.
