Mrs. Jewell C. Broome
Retired florist

THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Jewell C. Broome, 84, widow of Mr. Walter C. Broome, died Sunday, July 5, 2009, in the Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, July 7, in Thomson First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Mrs. Broome was a native of Richmond County, but had lived in Thomson for many years. She was the retired owner and operator of Broome's Florist. She was a member of Thomson First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Walter C. Broome, Sr., and her son, W. Crawford Broome, Jr.

Survivors include her son, Rev. Charles E. (June) Broome, Thomson; two granddaughters, Mrs. Allison (Jason) Broome Jones, Augusta, and Leslie Anne (Derek) Broome Addis, Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Asher Jones, Conner Jones, and Wyatt Addis; two sisters, Helen C. Rhodes and Joyce Coursey; and three brothers, Marvin H. Coursey Jr., Robert W. Coursey, and Marshall Coursey.

The family request that donations be made to the United Methodist Children's Home in Decatur, the Philadelphia United Methodist Church, or the Whiteoak Campground.

Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
