Thomson Elementary School

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! We have a busy year planned. Throughout the summer we have been working to prepare for the upcoming year and I anxiously await the start of school on Aug. 7.

We are supported by many individuals and organizations within the community. These include the members of our school council, PTO, business partners, civic organizations, mentors, and reading volunteers. It is through the support of these groups and individuals that we are able to enhance our efforts to provide our students with a quality education.

The PTO meets four times during the school year - Sept. 2, Dec. 2, March 3, and May 5.

Class rosters will be posted on the main entrance doors on Tuesday, Aug. 4, after 5 p.m..

The Thomson Elementary School staff has spent a significant amount of time planning for the opening of school to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved. I look forward to seeing you at Open House on Aug. 6.

Traffic Alert

Please help us to prevent the risk of serious injury by carefully adhering to all rules of traffic safety:

All students should be dropped off and picked up in designated areas only.

Please do not put your child into a hazardous situation by dropping him/her off in an unauthorized or unsupervised area. Car rider procedures will be distributed in your welcome back to school packet.

Do not stop to pick up a child until you have driven to the far end of the pick-up area directly behind the car ahead of you. Please maintain one lane of traffic in the school driveway. Parents should NOT park and walk inside to pick up their child.

Do not park in the bus loading zone at any time.

Children should not cross the driveway unless accompanied by an adult. Walking students have the right of way.

For the safety of our students, the drop-off/pick-up area located on Fluker Street will be one-way before and after school.
