Police seek liquor store robbers

Local and state authorities are searching for two men who robbed a liquor store of an undisclosed amount of cash before locking a female clerk in a cooler before fleeing the business last Wednesday.

As of Tuesday, authorities still had not made any arrests in connection with the robbery of Saicon Liquor Store, located along Harrison Road near the intersection of White Oak Road.

The clerk, who wasn't injured but who was shaken up from the ordeal, told deputies with the McDuffie County Sheriff's Department and officers with the Thomson Police Department two men committed the crime about 3:45 p.m.

Earlier the same two men reportedly came into the store inquiring about an ATM machine. The clerk told them there was one located at White Oak Food Mart next door.

Following the robbery, the men left the area in a white-colored mini van, possibly a Ford, with a handicap license plate, according to McDuffie County Sheriff Logan Marshall.

The crime scene was processed by Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Scene Specialist Steven Foster.

A search of the area by authorities turned up no trace of the suspects.

Anyone with information about the crime should contact the McDuffie County Sheriff's Department at 706-595-2040.
