THOMSON -- A 22-year-old Lithonia, Ga., man has died from injuries received in a single-car crash near Thomson late Sunday, authorities say.
McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack identified the victim as Cordele Alexander Gresham, of the 3700 block of Raiders Ridge Drive. The coroner said Mr. Gresham was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital in Augusta following the wreck near mile-marker 170 shortly before midnight Sunday. Mr. Gresham died from blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at 3:59 a.m. Monday.
Trooper First Class Mike Callaway of the Georgia State Patrol post in Thomson said Mr. Gresham lost control of his PT Cruiser in the left westbound lane before going off the roadway and slamming into a pine tree.
The car then overturned several times. Mr. Gresham was thrown from the car.
