Thomson football team looks to improve on last year

As the season opener draws near, the THS Bulldogs hope to go all the way this year and to improve last year's second-round playoff push. I managed to catch up with Coach Costello and ask him a series of questions.

When I asked Coach Costello about the overall team, he mentioned that we have three returning starters on defense and six on offense.

He also added that we have about thirty new players, mostly sophomores and freshmen.

As I moved further along into questioning, I asked, "What problems do you see so far?" He stated, "We are just a fairly young team and on top of that all our opponents look really good, so we'll have to grow up quickly."

Toward the end of our conversation, Coach Costello told me that the team's strength is that we have good team character, but our weakness is our youth. He also added that we've acquired one new coach, Coach Wright, to work with the receivers. The last comment from Coach Costello is that we have gone to a shotgun offense, but the defense will stay the same.
