HAMBURG ARTS & CRAFTS FESTIVAL

FOR MORE INFO: This year's festival will feature arts, crafts and food vendors, along with other events for kids and adults. A free kid's fishing rodeo will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be open to kids up to 15 years old. Be sure to bring a fishing pole, tackle and bait for the kids to use. Pedal boat races will be from 1-2 p.m. Hay rides begin at 10 a.m. and will operate throughout the day. The gristmill will begin grinding corn at 10 a.m. and will host demonstrations until 4 p.m. Call 478-552-2393.

FOR MORE INFO: The Thomson High School Technology Student Association will be sponsoring this event during the Bulldog's game against the West Laurens Patriots. TSA will be selling the t-shirts for $10 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeves. T-shirts will be sold during the next two home games, in the front office at the high school until 3:30 p.m. Monday -- Friday.
"BACK TO SCHOOL" NIGHT

FOR MORE INFO: Parents will have the opportunity to hear a general session beginning at 6 p.m. in the school's cafeteria. The general session will review promotion and graduation requirements, helpful hints relative to school success, and school goals. Following the general session overview, parents will meet with academic teachers, change classes when the bell sounds, become oriented with curricular goals and may sign-up for parent conferences. Mid-term progress reports will be sent home with students on September 17.
VOLUNTEER DAY

FOR MORE INFO: Hamburg State park will waive its parking fee in celebration of National Public Lands Day. Beginning at 9 a.m., visitors can assist park staff and the Friends of Hamburg State Park by participating in various volunteer projects. They will begin the day by preparing flower beds for fall and doing a litter pick-up along the highway in front of the park and through the picnic area. Next, they will clean the museum and gristmill. Be sure to bring a picnic lunch, so you can enjoy Hamburg State Park once all the work is done. For more adventure that evening, take part in a ranger-led hike along the yellow trail beginning at 8 p.m. The hike will start at the parking area across from the maintenance shop.
