THOMSON - Mr. Diamond Barnes, age 89, widower of Mrs. Helen Barnes, of Thomson, died Saturday, September 12, 2009, in McDuffie Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, September 14, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was a native of Campbell Mo., but had lived in Thomson for many years. He had retired from the Agriculture industry. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist.
Survivors include his seven children, Randy Barnes, Sapulpa, Ok.; Kenny (Doris) Barnes, Hooper, Utah; Jeanie (Herb) Reese, Thomson; Patty Louis, Thomson; Kerry Barnes, San Bernardine, Ca.; Terry (Carolyn) Barnes, Rogersville, Mo.; and Sherry McKee, Thomson; a special nephew, Clyde Barnes, Patoka, Il; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Barnes, Spanish Forks, Utah; Wava Carroll, Grass Valley, Ca.; brother-in-law, David Joe Holliman, Lady Lake Fla.; 25 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Reese, Donnie Reese, Davey Reese, Wayne Culver, Kenny Johnson and Eddie McGahee. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
