Farm Bureau works to feed the hungry

The McDuffie County Farm Bureau is collecting staple food items and monetary donations until Oct. 30, during the statewide Harvest for All Campaign coordinated by Georgia Farm Bureau in an effort to help Georgians in need. The monetary donations and food will be distributed to the eight food banks throughout Georgia.

"Farmers are in the business of feeding Georgia and in the United States. As farmers it's instinctive that we help our fellow Georgians who are in need, especially during this period of challenging times," said Bob Farr, County Farm Bureau president.

The top 10 staple food items requested by the food banks are peanut butter, cereal, canned meat, rice, dried beans or peas, macaroni and cheese, boxed pizza, Hamburger Helper, soup and canned vegetables. If you would like to participate in the food drive, please deliver your food or monetary donation to the McDuffie County Farm Bureau office, 619 Augusta Highway, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information, call office manager Jane D. Young at (706) 595-1756.

The Harvest for All Campaign is jointly coordinated by the Georgia Farm Bureau Women's and Young Farmer Committees.

Founded in 1937, Georgia Farm Bureau is the state's largest general farm organization with over 400,000 member families statewide.
