Man robbed during game

A Thomson man was hit over the head and robbed of his wallet during a card game at a residence off Mendel Avenue in Thomson last Thursday afternoon.

The victim, identified as Lawrence Phillips, of the 600 block of Anderson Avenue, described the man who committed the crimes as black, between the ages of 19 and 21.

Mr. Lawrence, who received a laceration after being struck by his assailant, was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash. The assault and robbery occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m.

Following the crimes being reported, officers with the Thomson Police Department and deputies with the McDuffie County Sheriff's Department converged on the area but never saw the robber.
