It is often said that a child can learn a lot from their elders if they would only take the time to listen. On Sept. 19, members of the Thomson-McDuffie County community took the time to listen to local teens.
Members of the Thomson High School and Thomson-McDuffie Junior High School Future Business Leaders of America provided a two-hour computer training class for several McDuffie County citizens. Community members were provided with basic typing skills and information on the proper way to start and shut down computers.
FBLA members involved in the training class were: Mallory Bland, Jasmine Green, Jamel Jones, Ronald Lazenby, James Lloyd, Kori Love, Shanteria Lowe, and Debra Weir (THS) and Veronica Baldwin, Keegan Erkens and Maricela Rodriguez (TMJHS).
The two groups plan to provide training one Saturday per month at Thomson High School. The topics range from Microsoft Office Products to filling out job applications and creating resumes. The next class is scheduled for Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Call the Business Education Department at 706-986-4296 for more information.
