Shooting under investigation

WARRENTON --- Local and state law enforcement authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting that wounded a 31-year-old Warren County man last Sunday night.

Warrenton Police Chief Jim McClain identified the victim as Antwan Hatcher, of the 1400 block of Mayfield Road, Warrenton.

Mr. Hatcher received what was described as "a flesh wound" to his left arm, Chief McClain said.

The shooting occurred in a driveway between two houses on Shoals Street shortly after 10 p.m., the chief said. It followed an argument that Mr. Hatcher got into with another man.

"We're still trying to sort it all out at this time," Chief McClain said in a phone interview Monday. "Right now, the victim isn't even sure of what happened."

Mr. Hatcher was treated at the scene by emergency personnel before being taken to the emergency room of McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson. He was treated there and later released.

The Warrenton Police Department is being assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
