Two persons have been charged for their reported involvement with the August robbery of a liquor store near Thomson.
Maj. Ronnie Williamson of the McDuffie County Sheriff's Department identified the suspects as Megan Tara Millwood, 20, of Pepperidge Drive, Augusta, and Walker Parker Jr., 27, of Nathan Rogers Road, Thomson.
Ms. Millwood and Mr. Parker are charged with armed robbery and other charges stemming from the holdup of the Saicon Package Store, located near Harrison and White Oak roads. In addition to the robbery charge, Mr. Parker has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, aggravated assault and kidnapping, Maj. Williamson said.
Ms. Millwood, meanwhile, did not actually take part in the robbery at the business, but had knowledge of the robbery and allowed those involved in the crime to use her mother's minivan, Maj. Williamson explained.
Following their arrests, Ms. Millwood and Mr. Parker were taken by deputies to the McDuffie County Law Enforcement Center. They remain jailed.
There is the possibility that other arrests may be made.
Maj. Williamson credited "good old-fashioned detective work" along with the cooperation of witnesses in helping with the investigation. He noted that witness descriptions of the van and its occupants helped track down the van and its owner.
