NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral services for Mr. Edward Leon Chambers, Sr., 83, of Sandy Hill Court, North Augusta, S.C., who entered into rest Monday, October 12, 2009, were conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Posey Funeral Chapel with the Revs. John Los and Chris Smith officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Chambers was a native of Meridian, Miss., having made North Augusta his home for the past 61 years. He was retired from King Mill.
Mr. Chambers was the husband of the late Mrs. Ouida Chambers, grandfather of the late Christopher Leon Fernandes and father-in-law of the late Faye Chambers.
Survivors include a son, Edward L. Chambers, Jr., of Thomson; six daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Alvin Scruggs, of Augusta, Edwina and Edward Marshall, of Modoc, Linda and Robert Boullie, of Windsor, Mary and Jim Fernandes, Betty Gipson and Dana Sue Mills, all of North Augusta; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were the grandsons.
Posey Funeral Directors of North Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
