Felicia Cullars - Thomson Middle School

Q. How many years have you been teaching and what subjects and grades are you currently teaching?

A. I am a sixth-year veteran teacher with experience in both sixth- and seventh-grade mathematics. I am thrilled to be serving as the Math Coach at Thomson Middle School.

Q. Tell us about your family.

A. I fill my life with these three essentials: Faith, family, and friends. Last year, my husband and I were blessed with the addition of our daughter, Logan.

Q. What do you do when you're not teaching?

A. Education is not only my career; it is truly my passion, as well as my hobby. Teaching and learning are lifelong processes that never end ... When I learned that I was (Thomson Middle's) Teacher of the Year I was surprised and appreciative that my colleagues believe in me. It is an honor that I share with everyone at Thomson Middle School because their continuous love and support are what drives me to be the educator that I am today.

Q. What is your favorite thing about being a teacher?

A. My favorite thing is the ability to inspire the students that I teach. As I teach, I have the opportunity, through my actions, to inspire every student who walks through my classroom doors. My favorite quote by Annette Breaux states, "An inspired individual will achieve great things. An informed individual will achieve nothing if he or she lacks inspiration." I hope to never take lightly the influence that I have on students' lives. Furthermore, I strive every day to help them create memories that they will treasure for years to come.
