Four seats open

Five candidates qualified for four seats on the Dearing Town Council, according to McDuffie County Board of Elections Director Phyllis Wheeler. They are: Robert H. (Bobby) Aldred, Allen L. Axon, Michael S. McTier, Raymond Silverstein and Judson Story.

The four candidates with the most votes will get the positions, Ms. Wheeler said.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Dearing Gymnasium for Dearing registered voters. A picture identification is needed to vote. Early or absentee votes can be cast at the Board of Elections office on White Oak Road through noon Friday, Oct. 30.

All Dearing elected positions serve a four-year term, with no limit to the number of terms as long as the person is re-elected.

Dearing Mayor Sean Kelley also qualified with the Board of Elections and Registration by the Sept. 4 deadline. Because no one else qualified, no election is needed for him to continue his tenure.

For more information on voting, call the elections office at (706) 595-2105.
