Congressman reaches out to residents

The City of Thomson is one of 10 sites where U.S. Rep. Paul Broun will be holding what he calls Congress on the Square on Friday at the Thomson Depot from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

During that time, residents can come to the depot and talk to some of his staff about any topic of concern they might have.

Dr. Broun (R-Oconee County) decided that this was one of the best ways of reaching residents who live in towns and cities outside of his district offices.

Dr. Broun's Washington, D.C. voting schedule prevents him from attending any of this week's meetings in various cities throughout the 10th District of Georgia. Two of his staff members, however, will be in attendance, providing information about health care reform and assistance to residents seeking help on such federal issues as obtaining a passport or securing benefits from Social Security or Veterans Affairs.

Congress on the Square is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

For additional information about the program, residents may call any one of Dr. Broun's district offices in Augusta at (706) 447-3857, Toccoa at (706) 886-1008 or Athens at (706) 549-9588.
