The McDuffie County Board of Education approved the 2010 millage last Thursday evening in a called meeting.
Comptroller Tom Smalley said he was happy to announce they were able to keep the rate the same as last year -- 17.19 mills.
"We're proud we were able to do it," said Rick McCorkle, vice-chairman of the school board. "It's a good thing we were able to keep it at the same rate for the property owners of McDuffie County, especially with all the other economic woes going on."
Mr. Smalley made the recommendation to the board in the absence of Superintendent Jim LeBrun, who was out of town.
Mr. McCorkle made the motion to approve the recommendation, Dexter Lovins seconded, and the vote passed unanimously. All board members were present to vote except Ella Mae Samuels.
The McDuffie County Board of Commissioners confirmed the BOE's millage Friday.
