Garden club learns about poinsettias

Fourteen members of the Garden Study Club of Thomson met at the Cornerstone Bakery for a luncheon with Jeannette Coleman and Millie Holbrook as hostesses.

A blessing was offered by Mildred Wright and, following lunch, a short business meeting was held. Carol Ward made a motion that the club make donations to the Tree of Love at McDuffie Regional Medical Center in memory of deceased members Ruth Knox and Ruby Carder. The motion carried unanimously.

Following the meeting, members met at Sanderlins Green Houses in Appling where Mrs. Sanderlin conducted a tour. Several greenhouses were filled with hundreds of poinsettias and we were given tips on care and some interesting facts regarding the beautiful Christmas flower.

Those attending were Jeannette Coleman, Mary Frances Gibson, Millie Holbrook, Marsha Hughes, Louise McCommons, Maggie McDaniel, Vonnie Poston, Carolyn Smith, Margaret Thompson, Anna Williford, Carol Ward, Mildred Wright, Joan Wiseman and Maggie Zieger.
