Mr. Riley M. Johnson
THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Riley M. Johnson, 73, beloved husband
of Mrs. Georgia W. Johnson, died Monday, January 11, 2010, in the
Trinity Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, in
the Zoar Methodist Church with Dr. Danny Burnley officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Glascock County, but had lived in
Thomson for many years. He was a construction worker and had
retired as a mechanic from the McDuffie County Board of Education.
He was a veteran and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary
Johnson and his brother, Robert Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Georgia W. Johnson, Thomson;
four daughters, Laverne P. (Danny) Burnley, Simpsonville S.C.,
Susan P. (Larry) Swint, Mitchell, Elaine J. (Hal) Keller, Harlem,
and Patricia J. (Michael) Kennedy, Thomson; two sisters, Lizzie
Mae King, Thomson, and Betty Jean (Barry) Hyman, Cadley; a
brother, Leroy (Sally) Johnson, Warrenton; 10 grandchildren, Bryan
Burnley, Brooks Burnley, Sherry Swafford, Jennifer George, Rebecca
Clark, Matt Swint, Scottie Keller, Anna Keller, Blake Kennedy, and
Zachary Kennedy; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Curtis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
