Mr. Robert H. ( Bob) Warren
School Teacher, Briarwood Academy
NORWOOD, GA - Mr. Robert H. ( Bob) Warren, age 63,
beloved husband of Mrs. Beverly Warren, died Thursday January
14, 2010 at Trinity Hospital - Augusta Homegoing services were
held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Norwood Baptist
Church with Rev. Robert Riley officiating. Burial with Military
Honors followed in the Scruggs Cemetery.
Mr. Warren, a native of Mt. Vernon, Ga., was the son of the
late William H. and Sarah Mason Warren. A Warren County
resident for many years, he was a graduate of Georgia Southern
College and received his masters and specialist in education
degrees from the University of Georgia. After college, he began
his career with the Warren County Board of Education teaching at
Norwood Elementary School, and serving as principal at Warrenton
Elementary School. Later, Mr. Warren was elected superintendent
of schools for Warren County. After the State of Georgia changed
the office of superintendent from an elected office to an appointed
position, Mr. Warren accepted a call from the Wilkes County
Board of Education to serve as principal of the Washington-Wilkes
High School and retired in 2005 from the Elbert County Board of
Education as assistant principal of the Elbert County Middle School.
After retirement from the public school system, Mr. Warren began
teaching at Briarwood Academy.
An active member of the community, Mr. Warren served on
the boards of the Warren County Library and the Warren County
Health Department. He was a member and Past President of the
Warrenton Kiwanis Club, the Warrenton Country Club, and a
active member of the Norwood Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon
and as a youth Sunday School Teacher. Additionally, he was serving
as interim pastor of Williams Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Warren, a
U. S. Army Veteran, served in Belgium as a Communication Center
Specialist.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Williams Warren; children,
Joey and Kirstin Warren, Grovetown, Ga., Jason and Monica
Warren, Batavia, OH, Kimberly W. and Alan Toole, Mitchell,
Ga., and Paul and Becky Lowe, Warrenton, Ga.; a daughter-inlaw,
Shirley Warren, Dublin, Ga.; a sister, Nancy W. (Bill) Smith,
Warrenton; PAPA to 11 loving grandchildren, Cody Toole, Brooks
Toole, Daniel Toole, Connor Warren, Colby Warren, Mason Warren,
Maylee Warren, Jacob Warren, Zachary Mays, Tanner Mays, and
Lauren Lowe.
Pallbearers were Don Wren, P. H. Giddens, Sonny Pierce, Billy
Seymour, Johnny Reese, Tommy Harwell, Charles Hall, and Carlton
Griffith.
