Mrs. Claire Bowen Beall
LAGRANGE, Ga. - Mrs. Claire Bowen Beall, 62, of LaGrange,
passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at home, surrounded by
her family.
Mrs. Beall was born January 14, 1948 in Augusta, daughter of
Mrs. Miriam Morgan Bowen, now of LaGrange, Ga., and the late
Dr. John B. Bowen. She had lived in LaGrange since 1975 and was
a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate
of Mercer University, where she was a member of the Phi Mu
sororitiy. In LaGrange, she was past president of the Holle Garden
Club, Elms and Roses Garden Club Council, UMW, Chairman of
the Altar Guild of First UMC. She was a past member of the Child
Abuse Council, Pink Ladies, and the Tree Advisory Board. She
enjoyed tennis, bridge, mahjohng, music, Mexico Beach, dancing,
her friends, animals, grandchildren, and life. She was a loving wife,
mother, and grandmama.
Survivors other than her mother, include her husband, Avery
P. Beall, Jr. of LaGrange; two sons, Patton (Elizabeth) Beall and
Bowen (Sarah) Beall, all of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Caroline,
Bo, Griffin, and Ben; two brothers, Dr. Robert (Gail) Bowen of
Cambridge, MD, and Dr. Rowe (Toni) Bowen of Dearing; motherin-
law, Mrs. Betty Jane Beall of Macon; and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010
at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Harold Lawrence
and Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating. A graveside committal service
was held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at Woodlawn Cemetery
Annex, Adel, Ga.
