Mrs. Martelle W. Dukes
EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Martelle W. Dukes, 91, widow of the late
Clifford C. Dukes, formerly of Thomson, passed away Wednesday,
January 20, 2010 at Morningside Assisted Living in Evans, Ga.
Mrs. Dukes was a native of Jacksonville, FL. She moved to
Thomson after WWII with her husband to establish Home Laundry
and Cleaners, which they ran together until their retirement.
Survivors of Mrs. Dukes, affectionately called MeMe, are
two daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and Buddy Durham of
Thomson, and Carole Clifford and Gus Hubert of Orange Park,
FL; a granddaughter, Lori (Ed) Boyen of Gibson; and three greatgrandchildren,
Hagen, Emma, and Alyssa Boyen of Gibson.
Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 24, 2010 at
Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Dr. Clifton Drawdy officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside Assisted
Living and our very special Angels of Love, Tijuanna, Vickkie, Shay,
and Katrina for all their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests those desiring please make
contributions to your favorite charity in honor of Mrs. Dukes.
